Harrriet, glad you liked the quiz

It brought back a lot of memories, especailly listening to Alan Freed play those songs.

Knee replacement can be a bummer.  My sister had one done a couple of years ago and she still has issues every now and then.  Think of it this way - you're still vertical and breathing and on the right side of the grass!

Linc & Suzy, congrats on your 50th.  Not too many people staytogether that long these days.  Gail and I celebrated our 45th a couple of weeks ago.

Update on Harriet Rudloff

Dear Friends,

Just wanted to say congratulations to Suzy and Lincoln on your 50th wedding anniversary!!  Welcome home Bill and Marlene!  So glad all is well with all of you!

I'm currently in rehabilitation therapy after a knee replacement revision.  That means I had knee replacement surgery seventeen years ago, and have had that knee replacement replaced!  They call it a revision.  I have been in rehabilitative therapy to get the knee bending again for several weeks, but am looking forward to going home soon.  With 92-100 degrees movement now, I should be able to get around by myself soon.

By the way, Ed, I loved the quiz!  It lifted my spirit during a particularly painful time during my knee replacement surgery recovery.

Good to hear from everyone!

Harriet

To my friends of '62

Suzy and Linc. Wow. So happy for you. You both look so good.

To all my dear friends,

Last year, I wrote a note about what is important and what is not. I still believe it - maybe even more deeply. My wife and I just spent 6 months in China teaching at a medical school.

We loved the Chinese people, particulary the medical students, but every one of us living here needs to thank whoever or whatever we worship that we live in the US. Sounds like the innocent 50s, I know, but it is sooooo good to be home. We won't be leaving again.

I wrote last year that, as crazy as it sounds, my only happy dreams at that time were of our 30th reunion. I know you won't believe me, but I have had maybe four or five dreams over the past year about our 50th, the most recent last night. They are so warm and accepting. I wake up smiling. It was best weekend I ever remember.

So, a year later, I send my gratitude to the committee, Neil, Ed, Nicky, on and on, and to all my friends, for the warmth with which you greeted my wife and me. We will never forget you.

A Chance to Help

Hello Classmates

We have a crisis in our education system. Two million students a year graduate high school unable to properly speak and write the basics of our own language. This is robbing them of a better life and future.

The following link describes a program I created to do something about this. The graph shows the results it has produced.

http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/235891/emal/1346126

To help schools implement my program I am seeking grass roots support of many small donations. You can change the life of a student by donating as little as $5. A bit more and you receive a book you can give to a niece/nephew, grandson/granddaughter, or friend.

If you feel this is a worthy cause I hope you’ll consider helping, and will also share the project via Facebook and other social media, so others become aware of it.

The education bureaucracy that allowed this problem to develop is not going to fix it, so thousands of kids that are counting on us, as concerned parents and adults, to do something.

Best, Richard

Lunch with Clair Taylor in Boston

I was in Boston in May and had lunch with Claire Taylor and her husand Richard at their home in Jamaica Plain. Their house is a quaint 3 story that was built in 1878 and Clair and Richard have done a fantasitc job of renovating it.

Claire looks great and has lost none of her bubbly evervesant upbeat personality. It's still amazing that she actually went to private school after Eastview, she was an integral part of our class just as if she had been with us.

Claire says she got a D in Latin in 9th grade at Eastview, so her father thought her classmates (that's us) were a bad influence on her and made her go to private school. I apologized on behalf of all of us at Eastview who contributed to her poor academic performance.

Walter Popper was going join us but unfortunately was unable to make it.

Claire, thanks for lunch and for being part of our class.
